How to Overcome Home Sickness?

How to overcome home sickness? This is a question to all OFW’s, HOMESICKNESS is real, everyone can catch this sickness. You may say it is in the state of mind but anyone can be affected which should be helped.

There are several strategies you can use to help overcome homesickness:

  1. Stay Connected: Make an effort to keep in touch with friends and family back home through phone calls, video chats, or social media.
  2. Immerse Yourself in Your New Environment: Explore your new surroundings, try new activities, and meet new people. The more you engage with your new environment, the more you will feel a sense of belonging.
  3. Maintain Your Routines: Keeping up with familiar routines, such as exercise, reading, or meditation, can help you feel more comfortable in a new place.
  4. Seek Out Support: Talking to someone about how you’re feeling can be a great way to relieve stress and anxiety. You can reach out to friends or family members, or consider seeking out counseling services.
  5. Get Involved in Your Community: Joining clubs, organizations, or groups that share your interests can help you make new connections and feel more connected to your new environment.
  6. Keep Busy: Having a full schedule of activities can help you stay occupied and feel more fulfilled, reducing the time you have to think about home.
  7. Accept Your Feelings: It’s okay to feel homesick and it’s a natural part of the adjustment process. Try to be patient with yourself and allow yourself time to adjust.

Remember, homesickness is a normal part of the transition to a new place, and it usually gets better with time. Keep in mind that you will eventually develop a sense of belonging in your new home and create new memories.

Please help other OFW’s to overcome homesickness. Most of the OFW’s goal is to earn money to help our loved ones in the Philippines. But let us help each other OFW’s and reach-out so that everyone can overcome this. Anyone can re-blog this and share. If you have other useful information and insights, I will gladly include them in the comments below.

My Wife is Visiting to my Place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

When a wife visits her OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) husband in his foreign land (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – UAE), it can be a unique and memorable experience. The UAE visit offers a chance for the couple to reconnect and make new memories together. However, it can also be a culture shock for the wife, especially if she has never been to UAE before but she is always visiting him while he is in Qatar.

During her stay, the wife can experience the local culture and cuisine, visit tourist attractions, and learn about her husband’s daily routine and work environment. The wife sees her husband’s new life abroad and is amazed by the culture and lifestyle. They explore the city, share stories, and reminisce about their past experiences together. She can also meet her husband’s colleagues and friends, which can offer insights into his life abroad.

On the other hand, visiting a foreign land can also be challenging. The wife may experience language barriers, unfamiliar customs, and differences in daily life. Adjusting to a new time zone (4 hours difference) can also be difficult, which can cause fatigue and disrupt the visit.

Moreover, the wife may also feel a sense of loneliness and homesickness as she is away from her familiar surroundings and support network. This can be especially challenging if the visit is short, and she must return to her home country soon after.

Overall, visiting an OFW husband’s foreign land can be a bittersweet experience for a wife. It can offer new experiences and opportunities for connection, but it can also be a challenging and emotional journey. As the visit to UAE comes to an end, the wife feels a sense of sadness and longing to be with her husband again. She bids him farewell and looks forward to the day they will be reunited for good.

However the experience, memories, connection and being together will always be good especially they spend the valentines and will celebrate her birthday together.

Do you have in mind a better place to visit in Dubai and Abu Dhabi Emirate? Please comment below and it might be included in the list.
